Computer screen savers

DOS screen savers

Once the file has been downloaded it must be installed or extracted. If the file ends with .zip; for example, screen.zip, this file must be extracted using a compression software program. You can find a listing of these programs on our recommended download section.

If, however, the file ends with .exe; for example, screen.exe, simply type the name of the file to run the screen saver. In this example you would type screen in the directory that the file was copied to.

Windows 3.X screen savers

Once the file has been downloaded it must be installed or extracted. If the file ends with .zip; for example, screen.zip, this file must be extracted using a compression software program. You can find a listing of these programs on our recommended download section.

Once the file is extracted, if the file has an executable such as setup.exe or screen.exe, double-click the file to either run the screen saver or begin the setup of the screen saver.

If the extracted screen saver or the file downloaded ends with .SCR or .DLL, this file or these files will need to be copied to the C:\Windows\SYSTEM directory. Once copied, the screen saver should be displayed as an available screen saver in the screen saver window.

Windows 95, 98, and ME screen savers
