How can I play Quake on the Internet?

Answer:

1. Start by running Qlaunch from Windows. This enables you to play with other players over the Internet using TCP/IP.
2. Go into multiplayer and select TCP/IP, now enter an IP address or server address, which should look similar to to: quake.xmission.com.
3.  If the server is not responding, it is possible that it either may not be up or has shutdown. There are also various locations on the Internet that contain a listing of Quake servers that can be found by doing a search.
