Not enough drive letters.

Issue:

Not enough drive letters.

Cause:

All PC computers have the capability of having drives assigned to letters from A to Z. If errors are present or not enough drive letters are specified, you may experience an error indicating that there are not enough drive letters.

This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities.

  1. LASTDRIVE= line not setup properly or not defined.
  2. dblspace.ini is missing or corrupt

Solution:

LASTDRIVE= line not setup properly or not defined

Verify LASTDRIVE= line is present within the config.sys. If this line is present, ensure that the drive letter specified is greater than the amount of drive letters.

For example, the line could read:
LASTDRIVE=Z

dblspace.ini is missing or corrupt

If double space or disk compression has been used on the computer verify on your startup disk (drive C) that the dblspace.ini contains the below two lines.

MaxRemoveDrives=2
LastDrive=F
