Fdisk freezes during creation / deletion of partition.

Issue:

Fdisk freezes during creation / deletion of partition

Cause:

This issue can be caused by one of two reasons:

  1. Hard disk drive is not setup properly in CMOS.
  2. Hard disk drive is bad.

Solution:

Hard disk drive is not setup properly in CMOS

Verify that the computer hard disk drive is setup as Auto in CMOS or that it has the proper settings in CMOS.

Additional information about editing the CMOS can be found on our CMOS page.

A listing of hard disk drive CMOS specifications can be found on our hard drive specification page.

Hard disk drive is bad

If the hard disk drive is setup properly in CMOS, unfortunately it is likely that the hard disk drive is bad and we recommend that it be replaced.
