How to hide the small arrow that appears on Windows shortcuts.

Answer:

As can be seen in the example picture to the right, each of the Microsoft Windows icons shown on the Desktop or in My Computer will display a small icon in the bottom left portion of the icon picture.

To hide this icon requires that you install or have TweakUI on your computer. Information about downloading and opening TweakUI can be found on document CH000141. Once installed on your computer follow the below steps.

Note: Following the below steps will arrange your Desktop Icons back into list format if they're spread across your Desktop.

  1. Open TweakUI
  2. Click the "+" next to Explorer.
  3. Highlight Shortcut.
  4. In the Shortcut overlay select None to use now overlay for all Microsoft Windows icons.
