Archie

Named to be similar to archive, Archie is considered to be the first search engine that was written by Alan Emtage, Bill Heelan, and Mike Parker at McGill University in Montreal Canada and released on September 10, 1990. Archie is a script that was used for finding files that are stored on anonymous FTP sites.
