Short for Absent Without Leave, AWOL is used
to describe any person who left without notice and/or
permission. AWOL is sometimes used in chat and text-based
communication to describe another user who left chat or has not
been seen. Below is an example of how this could be used in
chat.
User1: Where is Hope?
User2: He's AWOL.
User1: Any idea if he's coming back?
User2: Nope. :(
