known as a tooltip, a balloon is a brief message that indicates what would occur if
they were to click on that icon/button. This is found on most new
programs as users to quickly learn what each button or dropdown menu
does. If you are unable to get a button to display a balloon, it is
likely that the program does not support this feature.
Below is an example of what a
balloon tip looks like in Microsoft Windows when a user places their
mouse over the Start button. As can be seen by the example if the
user was unfamiliar with Windows they would know the start button is
a clickable button that enables them to navigate through
Windows.
