CAT1

CAT1 or Category 1 was first introduced in 1985 and is the type of wiring used to transfer voice data used in telephone services. This type of wiring was available in unshielded twisted pairs and untwisted. Although may still be used for telephones most modern homes and business are replacing CAT1 for CAT3 and CAT5.
