Link farming

Also known as link spamming or link bombing, a link farm is a collection of web pages often generated by scripts or bots that contain numerous links, often to other similar sites as well as sites trying to improve their ranking in search engines such as Google. A part of how Google ranks a website is how many other pages link to that site; if more pages are linking to your page, Google will move your site higher in its rankings. Although this tactic can improve your ranking, it is against all search engines' policies and can cause your site and/or domain to be removed completely from the search engine's index.
