Local bypass

Also known as a Competitive Access Provider (CAP) or a bypass carrier, a local bypass is a telephone connection that allows calls to be made without going through a telephone company. Various service providers offer a local bypass number, also referred to as direct access, to its clients to allow lower costs for international calls.
