Microsoft Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device plug-in for delivering .NET based media and rich application experiences to users on the Internet. Similar to a Adobe Flash file Microsoft Silverlight files are stored in a compressed XAP (pronounced like zap) file.
