3. Computer Virus, Worms, Security, and/or privacy threats
------------------------------------------------------------

* Virus:

zdnet.com.com -- Security experts say that the Swen mass-mailing Windows worm appears to be spreading quickly, moving to the top of the virus charts a day after it first appeared--and even maintaining its own counter that supposedly monitors how many PCs have been infected.

informationweek.com -- The worm poses as an E-mail from Microsoft and contains a bogus security update as an attachment.

* Security:

computerworld.com -- IBM has released a software patch for a serious security vulnerability in some versions of its DB2 database, according to the security company that discovered the problems.

atnewyork.com -- The CERT Coordination Center has issued a security alert for a buffer management vulnerability in versions of the OpenBSD Project's popular OpenSSH network connectivity tool.

* Privacy:

thestar.com -- Two Bank of Montreal computers containing hundreds, potentially thousands, of sensitive customer files narrowly escaped being sold on eBay.com late last week, calling into question the process by which financial institutions dispose of old computer equipment.
