* ZDNET: In a stunt involving Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and vice president Jim Allchin, helicopters will circle the companys Redmond,
Wash.-based headquarters as the pair hand-off Windows XP to PC makers, said sources familiar with the event. The helicopters are expected to be decorated with Windows XP and major PC maker logos.

- Microsoft Corp. announced on Tuesday that it has fixed a security hole in its free Web-based Hotmail email service that could have exposed customer emails.
- Hoping to reduce the impact of security threats such as the "Code Red" worm, Microsoft on Thursday released a tool designed to help less technically sophisticated users eliminate vulnerabilities in their servers.
