Backbone ( http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/b/backbone.htm ) -
The main portion of a computer network that is capable of carrying the majority of traffic on a computer network. The backbone is commonly used to connect large networks or companies together. Larger backbones used for the Internet are used to carry the majority of traffic throughout the world. There are multiple backbones used today in the United States most of the backbones are ran by companies such as AT&T, Congent, Qwest, MCI/Worldcom, Sprint, etc.

* Corrected issue with the Computer Hope server. Issue apparently was a excess use of bandwidth on our server. After working out the issue with our Internet service Provider Computer Hope came back online at about 10:00AM (MST) (7/15/2002).
