Founded in 2015 by George Hotz, comma.ai is an artificial intelligence software developer and manufacturer of driver-assistance hardware. Their product, the comma devkit, includes a specialty dash cam and hardware for connecting it to your car. Once installed, it can connect to your vehicle's existing driver-assistance system to add additional functionality. The goal of comma.ai is to create open-source software that converts any car to a fully self-driving vehicle.
Their flagship software, openpilot, is available for a growing number of vehicles, including newer models made by Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Lexus, and Volkswagen.
