    Monitor troubles
    « on: August 05, 2005, 12:26:12 PM »
Our monitor, awhile ago, after a thunder/lightning storm changed to a transparent pink colour.
I moved the pink monitor to an old P1 and it was perfect. and moved the P1 monitor to the P3, still all good. Thinking that the pink had reset or something, I moved it back to the P3 and there it was....PINK again.

Last night I set up the Pentium 3 & 4 and connected the PINK monitor to each system,  both systems were PINK.

Why would it be fine on an older system?

The monitor in question was manufactured in MARCH 2001.

Is there something I can do?
    I did de-gauss.

I am hoping to salvage this monitor

    Thanks for reading  :D

Is the resolution set diferently on the two systems? I'm not sure that would have anything to do with it but try setting them the same

Are there broken or bent pins on the monitor connector?

We do not use the P1 at all.
I just got it out of the closet to test the monitor.

I looked at settings and think that they are the same or within.

The pins all seem to be there and none appear to be damaged.

Is the monitor still under warranty? I am not quite certain, but some companies may give up to 5 years of warranty to certain peripherals.

If the monitor shows the same signs on all computers connected to and you have done the following:

            • Degaussed
            • Checked for broken, missing or bent pins
            • Set the colour scheme of your monitor (Per OSD, not in Windows)
            • Changed Windows to 24 or 32 BIT colour (in case you are using 16)

There is a large chance that the monitor may be failing.

Now the same PINK monitor, while booting up finishes POST but shows nothing, not even the Xp logo.

Can't get to safe mode to change settings.

The power light continues to flash, like its unconnected to tower ???

              [glb]
PINK is better than nothing until I buy a replacement.
              [/glb]

Now, If only I can get the PINK back !   lol

You should test it on the other computer(s).

                Hi Merlin:

                1. What is a psu?
                2. ATI Le Grapgics card

When I unplug the monitor cable from the pc, A "No Connection, Check Signal Cable" box slides around the screen WITH NO TRACE OF PINK.

Maybe you'll think of me when you are all alone.

A lot of maybes, you should test the monitor on the other computer(s)

This is because the error message may only use the primary colours. Red Blue and Green and does not mix them.
