Error message when installing games

Hello!  My son keeps getting error messages when he tries to install a game.  The message reads:

Failed to initialize renderer.
Nixadapterdesc::getdevicecaps()failed


Any ideas?

Win XP Pro sp3; AMD 64 3500+ MMX; 2GB RAM; 2x Nvidia 7800 GTX; 232 GB HD; 596 GB HD; mb ASUS A8N SLI Premium

Sounds like the vid card isn't up to the game specs...

Or the video driver isn't installed.

It seems that all his games were working fine but according to him, they suddenly stopped working.  He said that they would begin to load and then stop.  No error message.

So he uninstalled SIMS 3 and tried to reinstall it when he got the error I mentioned before.

Amazingly enough...still not enough info on the PC in question...and/or the games...
