problems opening my computer

I have windows ME and I tried opening my computer and control panel and all I get is a little box whith an x in it.  It says there are objects but nothing comes up.  I don't know what to do!  Help me please!

I am having that same problem. But I'm afraid that Merlin's advice didn't work for me. I tried restoring everything to default but I'm still getting the little box instead of my files. Help would be greatly appreciated

Margo/Sonia......So when you click on the my computer icon on your desk top ........it doesnt show the drives .....do I have that right.  Now you say you see a little square box with a X in it (is it red ) and its says there are items in it ............Have you D/l and kind of updates just prior to this occurring or exactly what were you doing prior to this starting ?
