a horrible horrible problem.
« on: March 21, 2006, 10:12:51 AM »
i have been having this problem for a while now, but it has only just really started to bug me since i got a new game today and it is affected.

it affects several other programs aswell namely the microsoft office programs.

i try to open them and i get the following message (this one is taken from the game, battlecruiser3000AD):

D:\INSTALL.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEc.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

i've looked for the file that root leads to but i can't find it. perhaps im not looking for it hard enough, i dont know. if it helps, im on windows xp home edition.

please, if anyone could possibly help...............thanks!

    Use the computerhope search button.
This is a very common problem.

Copy the autoexec.nt file from the c:\windows\repair directory and paste it into the c:\windows\system32 directory, overwriting the old one.
