i have just bought a dvd rom and my pc will not recognise it, how do i set the jumpers

Have you set up the bios to detect the secondary drive?

Jumpers are located on the back side. Instructions should have come with the DVD-ROM drive.

The jumpers on every optical drive I've ever seen are pretty simple, Master, Slave, and Cable Select.

If the other device on the cable is the master, set it to be the slave.  If it's the only device on the cable, set it to be master and put it on the end of the cable.  If you're using 80 conductor cables and the other drive on the cable is using CS, set it to CS.
