Computer will not start up?

When I go to boot my laptop, it will begin starting up and half way thru will start shutting down....I cannot get the computer to stay running....thoughts?

There's about a 12 to the 4th power of possiblities here so let's start off by posting alot more info other than it's a laptop...

As of right now all we know is it's a computer for sure.
