    GIMP Animation Trouble
    « on: September 16, 2007, 05:22:45 PM »
I'm having trouble animating using the GIMP. I have figured out all but one thing, how to create a gif amimation that flips through frames instead of just flipping through layers, which causes the images to stack and make weird colors. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? What I basically want is a small video (flipping through frames) but in gif extension.

It's not answering your question but it should do your project.

You will need to read the screen though.

It says you can download an evaluation copy, the one I have is a bit old but there seems to be no restrictions on it.
Possibly a nag screen but who reads them anyway. :D

There is a huge button near the top of the page that says...'DOWNLOAD'.

You will need to read the screen though.
This button will take you further down the screen (and if you read it) it explains how to install this software for evaluation.
It also gives you links for downloading.

You're not doing this to nark me are you? :D

By the way, what does "nark" mean?

They are all the same file from different locations, just download one and try it out.
I'd download it myself only I'm on dialup.

                        Verb: Nark
Cause annoyance in; disturb, especially by minor irritations

                        Among other things.

Sorry, I didn't see that :-[. But I ran it and it did exactly what I wanted. Thanks for the help and for being patient with me.

I'm looking forward to see your first masterpiece now.
BTW Gifcon can make transparent backgrounds, handy for getting rid of the ugly 'box' around avatars that you see so often.

If you wanna see my pic, just go my myspace. It's iceglob.

I know how to do the transparency thing, but it doesn't allow me to click "OK" or "Test", only "Cancel". So maybe that's because it's a limited version.

This is how my Lady does it....

                                1) Open GIF.
                                2) Double click on image.
                                3) Make sure that the control block and transparent colour boxes are ticked.
                                4) Then select 'remove by' -background.
                                5) Then click on 'dropper' which will bring the pic to the foreground.
                                6) Then place the 'dropper' on the background and click.
                                7) Click OK.

I typed that off a hard copy that she uses and it works for her.
The version she uses is about 10 years old.
