erasing hard drive in DOS
« on: January 28, 2005, 10:03:00 PM »
We are trying to erase the hard drive on a Windows ME machine by accessing DOS when booting up.
We then intend to use fdisk command, but we are having trouble first getting to the c:\ and then not understanding the partition steps.

Hey Jerry.   If you ever do get into Dos in ME then run format  you should appreciate that you will delete your entire operating system and will be unable to do anything - but I don't think you will be able to format the disk while still using it.  Your best bet is to use a bootdisk from Bootdisk.com, get to the A: prompt then run fdisk/format from there then go on to re-install your OS of choice.

Good luck
