I found something interesting over the weekend on the topic I submitted above. In looking at the internet addons (after much research on what an addon did for the system) I noticed that some of the active X entries were not consistant with previous entries from Sun Micro. I disabled one at a time and then retried internet search. The internet back button worked and the website I selected actually came up, at least for three or four times then I was redirected again. I returned to the addons manager and disabled another active X entry from Adobe which looked suspicious. As of this moment the back button works and I was not redirected. Any thoughts from anyone?

yep you can still do what I suggested above.
It would never hurt to have one of the specialist have a look and give you a clean bill of health
