DX 4300 Gateway
« on: January 13, 2012, 08:39:17 AM »
Hi All,
A friend of mind has a gateway DX4300 that hangs up. The hard drive just keeps running at max speed which makes the machine hang. After about 4 mins it clears up and runs normally for about 10 mins and then the drive goes off again and the system hangs. It doesn't matter what you’re doing with the machine...surfing the web or email....etc...

The machine is stock. I thought malware so I did a full wipe of the machine using the gateway restore disks (format reload OS win 7) and this didn't change anything. Even before it was on the internet it was repeating the hanging stuff. At this point I am thinking a bad hard drive. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas as to why this machine would be doing this.

It is running Win7

Thanks

I'd run the Free diagnostics from the HDD manuf. site...
If you can also swap another PSU in there to see if it does the same thing.
