when I sucessfully boot my password disc and try to restart it I get a screen that says{SECTOR NOT FOUND READING DRIVE A. ABORT,RETRY,FAIL? what does this mean?

please help with this question above. I have a compaq presario 5184,AMD-K6 3D PROCESSOR,380MHz,188mb ram.windows xp professional version 2002. I bought this computer from a friend{it is not registered to me}
