:( I stupidly deleted the "test" segment of my computer, thinking I was getting rid of something useless. WRONG! Very important part I learned. Not only did I erase all my pictures, stored in "my documents/test", I have also lost my complete address book and all my favorites, etc, etc, etc. Is there any way to recover this? I did a system restore and though it changed it back somewhat, it did not bring all that stuff back. Anybody have any ideas?!!!!

You may try O&O Unerase. But I don't guarantee that you will revive your files :(

Did you also empty Recycle Bin?  If yes...then, Good Luck!

Well, I wouldn't really call Windows components "useless"... They all have some reason for being there....
