The man from UNCLE.
« on: August 08, 2009, 02:26:40 AM »
I can't believe it, I'm an uncle.  One of my friends and his wife just had a baby.

<edit>  At least I think I'm an uncle, what if it was a girl?  </edit>

Perhaps I am not understanding a joke here but you are only an uncle of your (or your wife's) brother's or sister's children, and your status as uncle is the same whether the children are male or female.

    Anyhow, congratulations.

My cousin had a Man From U.N.C.L.E. agent's outfit which included a secret code book, an agent's badge, a plastic gun, a U.N.C.L.E. ID card... This was 1964.

You got there, first!  Yes, the good ol' days of the 60's Cold War.
United Network Command for Law and Enforcement, I believe.  Now, where's my turtleneck sweater?

Uncle Q...no, wait -- Q Branch was "James Bond."

Seriously, though -- congratulations!  It's not uncommon for a close friend of the family to be called "uncle."  Good for you!

I'm not really sure that I deserve any credit for this, I didn't have to do a *censored* thing..

They spotted a man of fine upstanding character and decided the title was deserving......

At least that's what the Press report said.
