When im opening an app my hard drive is making a rattling sound like when you pull tape out of a cassette. I can feel it when i put my hand on. Is my hard d on its way out??

Well, it doesn't sound good. As you know, your hd shouldn't make any discernible noise. If I were you I'd play it safe and back up all critical data and prepare for the worst. Actually, if I were you I'd just replace the drive, but that's me.
