Explorer Help
« on: August 06, 2004, 08:46:08 AM »
When I went to open a web site, all of a sudden more and more explorer windows started to open. At one time I had almsot 60 windows opened at one time. I had to shut down the computer.

Any ideas?

In the meantime, I will run a virus scan.

Your virus scan will not proof to be very effective.

I suggest you read this article and install the software recommended by the administrator:

Some web designers will put popups on their page or load other pages as part of the onload event of the original so you may end up with many many many pages.  Sometimes the same thing will happen based on the onclose event.. you close the original window and another pops up automaticaly.  Get the Google toolbar for free, it has a pretty good built in popup stopper.  Also.. next time you should stay out of the porn sites or stop looking for warez.

Or use a browser such as Mozilla Firefox. It has a built in pop-up blocker and many more useful features in your personal fight against the Spam.

See the News section for more details.

I use the Google toolbar which has a built-in pop-up blocker and now my pop-ups are pretty much nil.

That does not mean that the Spyware that may be undermining your privacy is gone as well.

I use the free version of PopupStopper from:

http://www.panicware.com/

You can give that a try. It seems to stop most popups (I do get some popups that are associated within whatever site that I am on.)  :)

Better off using Mozilla Firefox. An entirely new browser with an incredibly effective pop-up blocker.
