Won't reboot

Our computer won't re-boot.  When you turn it on, it comes up to VPR Matrix (name), then the monitor screen goes blank.   No re-booting noises coming from the CPU.  Could it be a virus or how can we tell what's wrong?   Thanks for all help!   ???
