I have a compaq computer running win xp sp2 and I'm using a usb wireless adapter I've tested it on my laptop and it won't do it on that but it will do it on my other desktop every once in a while and when it does it I just do a repair connection on it and then it works fine after that. I'm gonna try and do a re install on the software and see if it fixes it. if you have any other suggestions please let me know thanks

it's a compaq computer with amd 1.8 gig processor and I'm using a linksys wireless usb adapter and linksys wireless router wr54g. 512 ram and 80 gig hdd. sorry about that I didn't post the info earlier. I did try it on my gateway laptop which is a amd processor and 512 ram. My problem is the wireless connection will out of the blue not work with the compaq running the usb wireless adapter on it. I've tried to get it to do it on my laptop but I could not recreate the problem. I'm wondering possibly that I may have to reinstall the software for the adapter but I'm not sure cause after I do the repair for the wireless is works. By the way the desktop is running windows xp home sp2 and my laptop is running windows xp media center edition with sp3. thanks

Quotesorry about that I didn't post the info earlier.
No worries. ;)

How long have you had this problem?

So the USB Wireless Adapter works on another laptop?

brett74

on and off for the last few months or so. That is right the adapter works on the laptop

What do you mean by here?

It sometimes works on the current laptop?

brett74

the adapter works fine on the laptop. but on the desktop it will sometimes cut out

I would try reinstalling the wireless device with the CD that came with it.
