We don't get computer ads in New Zealand... just the standard *censored* Smith and Noel Leamings "buy our computers"

*sigh*... subjicated to four minutes of ads of which 3 mins are cleaning commercials...

Wait WHAT!? New Zealand!? I thought I was the only one here...  ;D and yeah that is true...we also get Dell ads for notebooks and the like

I know. And whats more: from my experience, Dell are appalling. We've had four of them, in total, two laptops and two desktops.

The first laptop got a white screen of death.

The second was replaced twice under warranty and still goes.

The first desktop died.

The second is going, but only because of the still working parts of the first subjicated into it, because different parts died in this one.

However, we DO have a really nice widescreen monitor with dell stamped on it, so they're alright when it comes to building LCD screens - its just their computers are rubbish.

(And yes, you did read that right, above. A WHITE screen of death. It never worked again. Said something along the lines of: This computer has suffered a total failure and will need complete rebuilding.)

Oh, and Kurtiskain, i signed your petition and agree fully.

If they are so bad, why do you keep buying them?

two laptops were work laptops, two desktops were free

Then there's no room for complaining...

there is when it comes to the laptops... worst machines ever. Many a complaint went to the work IT department. The desktops to die was fair enough, but you'd expect them to work just a tad longer than three months, even if they were free in mint condition.

my Dell has been running flawlessly for almost 2 years, not counting that one problem with the boot loader that one time.

The only  manufacturer I can fully support is Toshiba, since my 12 year old toshiba laptop still works just fine, same with my Thinkpad 755CDV, except IBM doesn't make those anymore so I don't know if Lenovo still goes for the same quality.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

on the other hand the company being footed with the bills for these computers and their subsequently installed software and repairs might have a case to complain  ;)
