So, Helpmeh, 179 kb/s > 325kb/s is incorrect?  It should be 179 kb/s < 325kb/s?

Edit: Whew, what the heck was I thinking?

Is there a difference between nkb/s and n kb/s?
Because if not, then you can disregard the kb/s and see which number is larger.

Yes, nkb/s has no space between the n and k but n kb/s.   ;)
I mean does it change in value? Does nkb/s=n kb/s?
Take out the unit, kb/s, and you have 179 > 325.
Yes. Take out the unit and it's still wrong.

If 0>1 then, yes, 179>325, but because 0 is NOT greater than 1 then 179 is also NOT greater than 325.

Pardon me, I think I've lost my mind today.  Don't know what I was thinking.  :-[

haha, I was wondering how this thread was going to evolve, heh

regarding =/=. I never use that for "not equal" much easier to use the dedicated math symbols

≠ Not equal
≡ strict equality
≤ less then or equal to
≥ greater then or equal to

Although I More commonly use <> and != to mean not equal, === to mean strict equality (for languages that support it) and <= and >= to mean the latter two
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Well I don't always have MSWord open, and I don't know the ALT codes for those symbols, and I don't practice javascript to get a habit of !=. I Know <= and >= mean less or equal to and greater or equal to, respectively, it's just we didn't need to deal with those along the course of the thread.

Well I don't always have MSWord open

What does MSword have to do with it...

character map.

and I Don't use javascript very often... actually nearly every programming langauge uses != (or, more like 75% of them)

Just got 275 kbps downloading VLC media player...

I might have gotten over 300 while using Bit Torrent once, I can't remember though for sure..

I downloaded slackware 13 the other day and it averaged 1.5 mbps; which was good. It's the only distro I've heard of that comes on a freaking DVD.

1500 kbps 'eh..   ;)

I haven't had time to mess with Linux too much and learn the OS..  I'm busy still familiarizing myself with the various parts of Windows..  Got a few more chapters to read in "Upgrading and Repairing Windows 2nd ED." (great book) I'll be looking for a job in a few months and need to get the more common stuff down first.. :P  Can't wait to get into Linux and some programming though.. I downloaded the Python Interpreter & Tutorial, and also have a big fat book on C++ that I haven't had time to dedicate to, I'll probably use MS Visual C++ for that..   Also in my other book "Upgrading and Repairing PC's", I have a few chapters to read on video and audio technologies... I'd also like to brush up on the chapter on comptuer "BIOSs", and read the last half of the chapter on CPUs, which I haven't finsished..  :P    Shoot, it's ALL relevant the way I see it!  I try to prioritize what I should learn...

I kind of dabble with it in a VM when I'm bored. I do manage to impress myself; I have read a LOT of books, articles, and so forth, and manage to get by even in the terminal. That was fun learning, it was like learning DOS and cmd all over again. messing around with sudo and ls and stuff :)
