Digital line

A digital line is a transmission line that only uses digital communication (e.g., binary) for reception and emission. For example, a fiber-optic line is a good example of a digital line that transmits data as pulses of light.
In contrast, an analog line is a transmission line (e.g., most telephone lines), that uses an analog signal, which is why a modem is required for a dial-up connection.
