Disc may refer to any of the following:
1. Optical data storage device that is round, flat, and ridged that is written to using a laser. Examples of a disc include Blu-ray, CD (Compact Disc), and a DVD (Digital Versatile Disc).
Tip
When discussing a disk or diskette, you're referring to a floppy diskette or hard disk. However, when discussing an optical disc (e.g., Blu-ray, CD, or DVD), use "disc." For example, "Have you seen the Blu-ray disc?"
2. Disc is an abbreviation sometimes used for Discord that sometimes is preceded by several numbers and letters to indicate the Discord channel.
