Disk envelope

Updated: 07/18/2024 by Computer Hope

Sometimes called a disk jacket or disk sleeve, the disk envelope is a paper or plastic sheath. They store a 5.25-inch disk and its jacket. These were used because the 5.25" diskettes had unprotected areas that were vulnerable to dust, dirt, and hair when they were not in use.

Note

A disk envelope may also be called a disk cover, disk protector, media sleeve, protective sleeve, or storage sleeve.
