Jailbreaking is a method and term introduced on July 10, 2007, that enables an Apple iPhone and iPod Touch user to run unauthorized code on their devices. When the device is jailbroken, it allows the user to run applications not supported or provisioned by Apple; it's often a method of obtaining pirated apps.
