Microsoft diagnostics

Software utility named msd.exe that was included with Microsoft Windows 3.x and listed computer system information. Below is a listing of information available through Microsoft diagnostics.

1. Computer brand and processor information.
2. Memory (Total, EMS (Expanded Memory Specification), XMS (eXtended Memory Specification))
3. Video (type, such as VGA (Video Graphics Array) and the manufacturer).
4. Network
5. Operating System versions
6. Mouse type, if installed.
7. Disk drives (and partitions).
8. LPT ports
9. COM ports
10. IRQ (Interrupt ReQuest) status
11. TSR (Terminate-and-Stay-Resident) programs
12. Device drivers
13. Other adapters

The original MSD (Microsoft Diagnostics) has been replaced by msinfo32, also known as winmsd.
