Microsoft diagnostics

Software utility named msd.exe that was included with Microsoft Windows 3.x and listed computer system information. Below is a listing of information available through Microsoft diagnostics.
- Computer brand and processor information.
- Memory (Total, EMS (Expanded Memory Specification), XMS (eXtended Memory Specification))
- Video (type, such as VGA (Video Graphics Array) and the manufacturer).
- Network
- Operating System versions
- Mouse type, if installed.
- Disk drives (and partitions).
- LPT ports
- COM ports
- IRQ (Interrupt ReQuest) status
- TSR (Terminate-and-Stay-Resident) programs
- Device drivers
- Other adapters
The original MSD (Microsoft Diagnostics) has been replaced by msinfo32, also known as winmsd.
