SBus

Updated: 10/01/2023 by Computer Hope

SBus is a proprietary computer bus developed by Sun in 1989 and used on SPARC (Scalar Processor ARChitecture) workstations. In 1993, the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) standardized a 64-bit version of the bus and it became IEEE 1496. The SBus would later be replaced by PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) in the late 1990s and today is considered obsolete.
