Telecommunications
Updated: 12/06/2024 by Computer Hope
Telecommunications or telecom is transmitting data electronically over any communications line. For example, a dial-up modem accessing a BBS (Bulletin Board System) or the Internet is an example of telecommunications because the transmission happens over the landline.
How is telecommunications different than data communications?
With data communications, only data is transmitted. However, with telecommunications, there is a mix of both data (digital) and voice (analog).
