Ymodem
Updated: 12/06/2024 by Computer Hope
A file-transfer protocol developed by Chuck Forsburg that is similar to the enhanced 1 K version of Xmodem. Ymodem sends data in 1024-byte blocks, allows multiple file transmissions at once, performs CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check), and can reduce the transfer size for poor connections.
Ymodem-G resembles the standard Ymodem; however, to increase download speed, drops software CRC check and relies on hardware error correction.
