Issue:

Missing desktop network icon.

Additional information:

Although each of the versions of Microsoft Windows have a different name for the network icon, this document applies to the below missing icons.
  • Network Neighborhood
  • My Network Places
  • Dial-Up Networking

Solution:

  1. Open TweakUI.
  2. In TweakUI open the desktop tab / category.
  3. Under desktop, check the checkbox for the network icon you wish to be displayed on the desktop.
  4. Once checked, close out of TweakUI and reboot the computer.
