Display cycle

Renewing the display or parts of a display to give it the appearance of being a moving image or to display new information. For example, a CRT monitor refreshes the monitor display, re-drawing the image to give it the appearance that objects such as the mouse cursor are moving or to show new information such as new text that has been typed in on the keyboard.
