PDL
Updated: 07/31/2022 by Computer Hope

Short for Page Description Language, a PDL is a computer language describing the contents and layout of a printed page. PDLs are useful in that they tell computer printers how to properly reproduce a page sent from a website or other program. Each printer manufacturer has its own page description language, but Adobe PostScript is a popular language.
