Telegram

Telegram is an encrypted messaging service and app that was launched by brothers Pavel Durov and Nikolai Durov on August 14, 2013. The service allows its members to communicate privately all around the world and without fear of having their messages read by anyone. As of 2024, Telegram has over 950 million monthly active users and is based in Dubai.

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in France on August 24, 2024, on a warrant related to Telegram's lack of moderation. Later in September it announced that it would share user IP addresses and phone numbers with police upon request.
