Widget

Also known as a gadget, a widget is an additional feature or extension to a software program, operating system GUI, and/or web page. Software gadgets give the software or web page additional features and capabilities that help give the user exactly what he or she wants and an overall better experience.

A widget or gadget can be as simple as additional icons, menus, buttons, or capabilities or an add-on that gives the user the latest news, sports scores, stocks, weather information, random or daily pictures, to-do list, traffic reports, calendar, mini-games, quotes, etc.

Widgets and gadgets are often made available through the software developers web page or the web site providing the dynamic web page that supports them. Below some are direct links to web pages with gadgets / widgets.
